Text turns a plain clip into content that holds attention, whether it is a title, captions or a call to action. CapCut makes it quick, and with a couple of styling tricks your text can look polished instead of default. Here is how.
Step 1: Add a text box
- On the timeline, move the playhead to where you want the text to start.
- Tap Text on the bottom toolbar, then Add text.
- Type your words.
- Drag the text box on the preview to position it.
A text clip appears on the timeline. Drag its ends to set exactly when it appears and disappears.
Step 2: Style it
Default text is forgettable. Use the Style tab to make it yours:
- Pick a font that matches your video’s tone.
- Add a background or outline so text stays readable over busy footage.
- Adjust colour, size and spacing.
Readability first: if viewers cannot read it in a second, simplify it.
Step 3: Animate it
Static text feels flat. Tap Animation and choose:
- In: how the text enters.
- Out: how it leaves.
- Loop: continuous motion while it is on screen.
Keep animations quick and consistent across your video so they feel intentional, not random.
Bonus: automatic captions
For talking videos, skip typing everything. Tap Text > Auto captions and CapCut transcribes your speech into captions. Review the text for any mistakes, then style the captions once and they apply throughout.
Timing is everything
Great text is timed to the footage. Snap your text clips to the moments they refer to, and give viewers enough time to read comfortably. Pair your titles with clean transitions for a professional feel.
