Frequently asked questions
How is the file size estimated?
It multiplies your video's bitrate by its duration and adds the audio, approximating the final file size before you export (size is roughly bitrate times length).
What's the difference between bitrate and resolution?
Resolution is the pixel dimensions, like 1080p; bitrate is how much data is used per second. Bitrate has the biggest effect on file size, so two 1080p clips can differ greatly at different bitrates.
How do I make a video file smaller?
Lower the bitrate, use a more efficient codec such as H.265 over H.264, reduce the resolution or frame rate, or shorten the clip. This tool shows the trade-off before you export.
Why is my exported file a different size?
This is an estimate. Variable-bitrate encoding, codec efficiency and scene complexity all shift the real size, so treat the number as a close ballpark.
